The NDSU Extension and Agriculture Research budget bill has passed both chambers of the North Dakota legislature. Now, Senate Bill 2020 awaits Governor Doug Burgum’s signature. The legislation fully restores the governor’s recommend cuts for NDSU Extension, the Research Extension Center network and the Northern Crops Institute budget. Livestock, farm safety, big data and soil health initiatives from the State Board of Ag Research and Education priority list also made the cut. $500,000 in one-time funds for deferred maintenance for the Ag Experiment Station are also included, along with merit-based pay raises for Extension and research employees.
