The latest Crop Watch radio program covered the central Red River Valley. The Red River Farm Network team made stops at Thompson, Hillsboro, Northwood and Larimore. Thompson Farmers Coop Elevator agronomist Justin Askim expects corn planting to pick up pace as temperatures warm up. “For now, farmers are focusing on getting the wheat and sugarbeets planted.” Farmers are also focused on finishing the wheat and beets in the Hillsboro area, according to Lovas Consulting owner Sarah Lovas. Soil temperatures are still on the cool side in the Northwood areas. “More and more fieldwork is starting to take place,” says Integrated Ag Service sales agronomist Nick Bury. Listen to the update.
