Earlier this year, President Biden issued an executive order to conserve at least 30 percent of lands and waters by 2030, known as the 30×30 goal. The American Farm Bureau Federation sent a letter to the president last week asking for more clarity on the goal. “American farmers and ranchers are the original conservationists. We are active in this space and have been for decades,” said Ryan Yates, Managing Director of Public Policy, Farm Bureau. “Ultimately, whatever the administration does in setting targets, we’d like a voice in that effort.” This week, the Department of Interior will release a report with more information on the 30×30 goal. “We want to see the proposed role of farmers and ranchers in private land conservation and seek clarity on how public lands will be used to achieve those goals.”
