Bell Bank Senior Vice President for Agribusiness Development Lynn Paulson says Northern Plains farmers have interest in the Paycheck Protection Program. “Overall, I think there’s still a benefit. Farmers may be eligible and should check with their lender or tax preparer to see if they qualify.” Paulson says farmers, by nature, are also independent. There are reservations from farmers whether or not they want to take advantage of another round. “Some farmers are satisfied with the funding they’ve already received.” Banks are also dialing back on promotion for the second program. “There’s lender fatigue on the PPP program. People have been engaged full-time for a full year, finding it was a lot of work not just for the loans getting the money out, but the debt forgiveness.” Hear the interview.
