The Wheat Quality Council is hosting an in-person Hard Winter Wheat Tour in Kansas the week of May 18. Executive Vice President Dave Green says nothing beats getting back into the field. “Attendees won’t be required to be vaccinated, but social distancing guidelines will be in place,” says Green. “We are telling people to prepare to drive yourself. Instead of four to a car, we may send four cars together on a route and they’d meet outside at a wheat field to do their observations.” In a normal year, there are 90 attendees. This year, Green is expecting half of that. Green is hopeful North Dakota’s spring wheat wheat tour will also be in person.
