Within 48-hours of being sworn in as president, Joe Biden signed an executive order to have the USDA increase SNAP benefits by as much as 20 percent. There will also be assistance provided for families for school lunches that are virtual. As part of the 2018 Farm Bill, USDA will also begin revising the Thrifty Food Plan, the basis for determining SNAP benefits. Biden is also proposing more nutrition assistance in additional COVID relief.
