After the pandemic forced its cancelation, the Minnesota State Fair is reporting an operating loss of $16.2 million for 2020. Since the fair receives no state funding, dramatic cuts were made in the normally aggressive plan for maintenance and improvements. During the annual meeting of the Minnesota State Agricultural Society, Mark Goodrich was inducted into the Minnesota State Fair Hall of Fame. Goodrich is the State Fair’s recently retired deputy general manager of livestock and agriculture. Political analyst D.J. Leary retired as vice president of the State Fair board of managers and was elected to honorary life membership in the Society.
