Signup is underway for the USDA’s Quality Loss Adjustment Program. Farmers have been waiting for more than a year on this relief program, which is due to crop quality losses in 2018 and 2019. USDA Undersecretary Bill Northey said the amount of losses is still an unknown. “This is unique; it is a challenging program to put together and come up with a different way and kind of survey folks first to understand (the losses) rather than paying folks right out of the box.” Farm Service Agency Administrator Richard Fordyce said USDA has experience in dealing with yield losses, but it has been more difficult to evaluate quality losses. Enrollment for the Quality Loss Adjustment Program will continue through March 5.
