The USDA named Carrie Castille as the permanent director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture. Castille was an assistant professor at Louisiana State University. She was appointed by USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack to the National Ag Research, Extension, Education and Economics advisory board from 2010 to 2017. Castille begins the new role on Monday, January 4.
