Former North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp’s press team issued a statement congratulating Tom Vilsack for his agriculture secretary nomination. The statement said Heitkamp’s work will continue in addressing the challenges facing Rural America. Heitkamp is also still willing to help President-elect Biden in anyway she can that makes sense for her and the incoming administration. Heitkamp and Ohio Representative Marcia Fudge were seen as the front-runners for the ag secretary post. Fudge was named the incoming secretary for the Housing and Urban Development Department.
