USDA has announced changes in prevented planting coverage. The new provision will expand the ‘one-in-four’ requirement nationwide, which means farmers must plant, insure and harvest crops on the land in at least one of the past four growing seasons. The coverage will also be tightened to make sure PP payments reflected the crops the farmers intended to plant. A change was also made in the beginning and veteran farmer and rancher program, allowing farmers to use the Actual Production History of the previous farm operator on newly acquired land if they have permission.
