Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers Association President and Ada, Minnesota farmer Neil Rockstad is wrapping up a one-year term in office. “Reflecting on the last year, we were busy with the WHIP+ program. I began my term following the monumental disaster of 2019. Watching that unfold and realizing we have input was important. It was a proud moment to see the effort come to fruition.” The sugar program in the next farm bill will be a policy priority going into 2021. “We understand there has to be a balance between food, nutrition, environmental and production agriculture, but we need to make sure our viewpoint is heard,” said Rockstad. “We’ll certainly work with everyone in Washington D.C. and look forward to working with everyone.” Rockstad will seek re-election at the upcoming annual meeting. The Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers Association will hold a joint annual meeting with American Crystal Sugar Company on Thursday.
