The 4-R practices were highlighted at the Minnesota Agriculture Water Resources Center Virtual Field Day. Buffalo Lake, Minnesota farmer Brian Ryberg has been strip tilling a rotation of corn, soybeans and sugarbeets. “We’ve been playing around with cover crops, trying to minimize the amount of dirt moving around in the winter,” said Ryberg. “We started with cereal rye and as we transitioned to strip till, we tried to marry the two programs together.” The biggest challenge in 22-inch rows is managing residue in a high yield environment.
