Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative growers have also seen excellent progress with the harvest. “We are still trying to figure out where we’re at on the tonnage, but we’re thinking around 30 tons,” said Todd Geselius, vice president of agriculture, Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative. “Sugars are coming in around 17 percent. It’s pretty good for us at this time of the year.” The main focus is getting the sugarbeets in the pile. “The good news is the forecast continues to look great. There’s a nice cool stretch coming in next week and there’s no reason to get too excited. We need to put the sugarbeets in the pile right so we can keep it.”
