Dekalb Asgrow Technical Agronomist Eric Nelson says there are a lot of reasons for farmers in the southern Red River Valley to be optimistic about the corn. At the same time, there has been some carryover wet conditions from the 2019 harvest and wet conditions in 2020. “You can’t paint with a broad brush right now who has a crop that looks really good and who has a crop that’s more questionable.” Nelson says the more questionable areas for corn go back to planting seasons. Many crops were put into conditions between what should have been prevent plant and then, others were planted into good conditions. It may not be an easy fall across the board, but Nelson thinks much of the corn planted will reach maturity before a killing frost. Hear the full story.
