Fall is an ideal time to control weeds in pastures and other grasslands, according to NDSU Extension. Leafy spurge and invasive thistles can both be challenging to manage because of extensive root systems. Those plants begin to allocate energy to their root systems in the fall. That’s why an herbicide treatment this time of year can maximize injury to the root system. Products such as Tordon, dicamba, Facet, Overdrive, Method and Milestone can all be effective. Producers should consult to North Dakota Weed Control Guide for the latest recommendations. Get more information here.
