The western leg of the Pro Farmer Crop Tour traveled through portions of South Dakota Monday. Pro Farmer is forecasting a corn yield of 179.2 bushels per acre for the state. “That is up 16 percent from last, which shouldn’t be a surprise after the weather we had a year ago,” said Jeff Wilson, tour organizer. Wilson says there is a similar story for South Dakota’s soybean crop. “The soybean pod count is up 50 percent from a year ago, but more importantly, it is up 36 percent from the three-year average.” The crop scouts will survey fields between Grand Island and Nebraska City, Nebraska today.
