The latest drought monitor map continues to show the driest areas of Iowa expanding. U.S. Commodities President Don Roose says grain traders think the big crops will offset the dry areas. “We did get some scattered rains across Iowa, but for the nation, about 10 to 15 percent of the crop remains in the dry status,” says Roose. “Crop ratings are expected to be unchanged today. As a whole, the crop is still large. This time of the year, the crop ratings usually go down.” Wednesday’s USDA report is forecast to confirm the large supplies. “USDA could possibly move the yields up, so look for that and demand may also be adjusted. There’s likely going to be a large supply and soft demand.”
