A few, small dry pockets continue to be a concern for crop development. Nutrien Ag Solutions Principal Atmospheric Scientist Eric Snodgrass says there are several spots around the Midwest that could use some rain. “There’s a hole in Iowa, west of Des Moines, we’ve been talking about for one month. If it doesn’t fill in, we’re going to see some yield loss in that critical part of Iowa,” says Snodgrass. “There’s also been some thunderstorm activity hitting drier fields in Missouri and Ohio. Also, the Northern Plains are getting hit with some storms.”
