In the Mitchell, South Dakota area, farmer Chet Edinger is almost done with the winter wheat harvest. Harvest began the week of July 13. Edinger tells the Red River Farm Network the winter wheat quality is excellent, with most fields in the 61-to-63 pound test weight and 13-to-14 percent protein. Edinger attributes the excellent quality to the decent May and June weather, though yields could be a bit better.
