China started this past week with a record U.S. corn purchase. The market sold off for two straight days before China came shopping. This sale of 1.76 million tons of corn is for the marketing year that begins in September. This was the largest sale of U.S. corn to any customer since 1991 when the former Soviet Union was the customer.
