Statistics Canada released their March 2020 planting intentions for all field crops on Thursday. Canada’s farmers intend to plant more wheat and corn than last year. Farmers are expected to plant less barley, canola, peas and lentils and soybeans. Wheat acres are forecast to be up 3.3 percent to 25.4 million acres, because of an increase in durum acres. Canola acres are expected to be 20.6 million, down 1.6 percent from one year ago. Acres planted to corn is expected to be up 3.2 percent to 3.8 million acres.
