Despite a shift in the budget outlook, Representative Deb Kiel thinks the legislature can still accomplish a bonding bill. “Minnesota has a lot of infrastructure. We need to make sure to take care of roads and bridges,” said Kiel. “We have to see as the economy opens up where we’re at financially.” A supplemental ag finance bill is moving through the committee process, but Kiel said it’s unknown if it bill will see the light of day at the end of the session. “There are other bills that need to be discussed or finished. Much of them will have to be tabled if they are high finance. That’s why policy-focused bills may go forward, but financial bills may not.” The Minnesota legislative session will wrap up May 18.
