Right now, farmers and ranchers navigating uncharted territory with COVID-19. That’s why agricultural organizations, like the South Dakota Farm Bureau, have created a new set of resources. Executive Director Krystil Smit says a coronavirus page and new video series is available on the SDFB website. While these resources are certainly beneficial, Smit adds the spring-like weather is also helping lift spirits. “Especially when farmers are able to get out into fields and for those livestock folks working cattle during calving season. There is so much to be positive about,” says Smit. “When people feel like they’re being productive by creating food for our nation and the world, it gives them purpose.” There is now doubt the coronavirus outbreak has caused added stress.
