U.S. grain prices have fallen enough to make them competitive globally. Standard Grain president Joe Vaclavik says corn exports are a bright spot. “While ethanol suffers, we’re probably going to see much better corn export demand and demand in the feed sector. It won’t be enough to make up for the lack of ethanol demand.” Vaclavik says it’s the exact opposite in the soybeans. Domestic use for soybean meal is a bright spot. “NOPA said U.S. processors crushed a record amount of soybeans in March; the highest amount for any month. However, soybean exports are suffering. It’s an interesting dynamic.”
