Senate Democrats objected a vote to add $250 billion to the Paycheck Protection Program. The lawmakers said the measure failed to address more urgent needs. While there has been a strong interest in small business loans, Minnesota Senator Tina Smith said there are other needs during the time of the coronavirus. “We’re looking a lot at the needs for additional help for hospitals, especially rural hospitals, and nutrition assistance,” she said. “We’re looking at all of the things we need to do to support families going through tough times.”
