In preparation for spring fieldwork during the coronavirus pandemic, the Agriculture Retailers Association sent a letter to President Trump requesting additional flexibility for the agriculture supply chain. Association President Daren Coppock says missing one or two days in tight planting windows, fertilizing or applying crop protection can have significant negative impacts on food production and farm income. The association wants to designate ag retailers as essential and exempt them from any temporary closures of retail businesses. They also ask for an extension on the Hours of Service requirements waiver to include carrying farm supplies.
