Crop insurance guarantees for corn, soybeans and wheat will be lower in 2020. “When you look at corn and soybeans, these are some of the lowest guarantees we’ve seen in a decade,” said John Newton, chief economist at the American Farm Bureau Federation. Lower crop insurance guarantees have an impact on the farm. “When you combine that with a grower’s yield history, it reduces the minimum guaranteed income that farmer is likely to have. It can impact their borrowing capacity when they meet with lenders.”
