North Dakota and northwest Minnesota are very dependent on trade and export opportunities in the Pacific Northwest. North Dakota Soybean Council Executive Director Stephanie Sinner says there are beans moving. “We’re used to the floodgates opening and everything moving at harvest, but the last 18 months has been a slow trickle for trade.” With China on the sidelines, other countries have been more active. Those countries include Taiwan, Indonesia, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
