Like most fears that move the market, Marex Solutions market analyst Scott Shellady thinks the market reaction to coronavirus is overdone. “At some point we’ll have to put the coronavirus in perspective and realize there’s been actual deaths in the U.S. to the flu. The coronavirus is more contractible person to person, but it has folks scared.” Shellady advises caution in the market. “It’s like catching a falling knife. You have to be careful, because there’s not a lot to win if you get in there too early,” he says. “When we start to see these numbers slow, the market will tell you. You don’t want to be a pioneer right now. A pioneer in my mind is face down in a puddle of water with a bunch of arrows in his back. We want to wait until that’s over and then, we’ll settle our 40 acres.”
