Betaseed is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Jason Evenson, who is the company’s new brand sales leader, says new traits are being developed. “There’s been increased cercospora leaf spot and we’ll be introducing hybrids with greater level of tolerance.” These traits are expected to be on the market in 2022. By the middle of the decade, Betaseed will commercialize a KWS product that will provide new weed control options for the beet grower. “It will deliver tolerance to three different herbicides; not only glyphosate, but also glufosinate and dicamba. It will be the first multiple herbicide tolerance sugarbeet trait available to growers.”
