NDSU Extension and University of Minnesota Extension hosted sugarbeet grower update meetings for American Crystal Sugar Company growers this past week. Entomologist Mark Boetel says sugarbeet root maggot continues to cause problems. “We are really seeing a growing maggot problem again. We are in an upsurge. We need to be diligent, keeping people poised if they are in a moderate risk area.” Boetel is testing one new product for root maggot control and some monitoring technology.
