The Chinese agriculture ministry is reporting an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza. This is the same virus that resulted in the loss of millions of turkeys and chickens in Minnesota and surrounding states five years ago. Nearly 20,000 chickens have been destroyed in Hunan Province. This is just the latest health crisis in Chinese agriculture, following the significant losses to the swine herd from African Swine Fever.
