Quality issues were commonplace in the spring wheat crop this past year. There was some initial panic over falling numbers and other quality considerations, but North Dakota Wheat Commission Policy and Marketing Director Jim Peterson said that has eased. “We’re coming out of this better than many of us feared in September. The crop may not have been quite as bad as some thought and customers have adjusted more than some thought.” Peterson, who spoke at the Lake Region Extension Roundup, says planting conditions this spring will drive acreage decisions.
