A new analysis from Iowa State University (ISU) says zero tariff access to China for U.S. pork would greatly benefit American agriculture. Unrestricted access to the Chinese chilled and frozen market could also reduce the overall trade deficit with China by nearly six percent. ISU economist Dermot Hayes, who conducted the analysis, showed U.S. pork sales would generate $24.5 billion if there’s unrestricted access to China for more than 10 years. The report findings are part of a new digital campaign from the National Pork Producers Council to spotlight the importance of opening up the Chinese market to U.S. pork.
