Late harvest discussions filled the halls at the Minnesota Farm Bureau annual meeting this past weekend. Bejou, Minnesota farmer Mike Gunderson hasn’t started corn harvest yet and says there will be challenges getting feed for cattle. “I still have oat hay on the ground and corn stalks are baled for bedding and feed. I haven’t done any of that yet. What do you do with livestock if there’s no feed or bedding?” Gunderson says they also feed sugarbeet by-products. “The sugarbeet growers had a terrible year, too. I haven’t heard anything from the sugarbeet cooperatives when they’ll finish slicing the beets, but I know that will be sooner rather than later compared to a normal year.”
