A bipartisan group of lawmakers, including South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds, have introduced legislation to create pollinator-friendly habitats on state roads and highways. The so-called Monarch and Pollinator Highway Act of 2019 would create a federal grant program to help state departments of transportation promote the planting of native grasses, wildflowers and milkweed on roadsides and highway rights-of-way.
