An agricultural labor bill is being heard in Congress. According to U.S. Custom Harvesters board member Rana Zeller, the bill would make changes to the H-2A program. “There is a concern about language regarding immigrant labor being able to drive on our roads; we’re hoping that they’re not preventing our labor from driving our silage trucks and grain trucks.” With the seasonal employees needed by the custom harvesting business, labor is an ongoing issue. “This is specialized labor. You can’t just put somebody in a $900,000 combine without training.” The full interview with Zeller can be heard online.
