Archer Daniels Midland’s income totaled $16.7 billion in the third quarter, up six percent from last year. ADM’s nutrition business surged, up 76 percent in profits. Specialty products, such as pea protein, contributed to that strength. Lower margins in the ethanol business cut into the earnings for ADM’s carbohydrate solutions business segment, down 36 percent from a year ago.
