A group of dietitians, nutritionists and culinary lifestyle marketers learned more about soybean production at Hillsboro, North Dakota. This was a part of a soyfoods and farm tour organization by the National Soyfoods Council. North Dakota Soybean Growers Association Executive Director Nancy Johnson, who led yesterday’s discussion with farmers, says these professionals see soy as a valuable protein resource. “We were able to help them relate to soybeans needing nutrition, just like their clients would, to explain how and why farmers control weeds and diseases,” says Johnson. Typically, the group would be able to see farmers harvesting soybeans at this time of the year. With the continued wet conditions, Johnson says working with the weather was a highlight of the conversation. Hear more in this interview.
