Twenty inches of snow caused tree damage over the weekend, but Montana Wheat and Barley Committee Communications Coordinator Sam Anderson says most of the wheat was harvested prior to the storm. “The farmers that got the crop in early got it out early. I haven’t really heard hard evidence things aren’t looking good yet,” says Anderson. “The final 10 percent will likely have falling number issues, but that’s going to feed. I think there’s a feed market out there.” The concern is in the northeastern part of the state, where durum is grown. “The prices have raised $1.50 already,” says Anderson. “The market is starting to adjust.”
