Some farmers with wheat left to harvest will be submitting a crop insurance claim. Northern Ag Incorporated crop insurance agent Jody Miller says it’s important for farmers to stay in touch with their crop insurance agent. “If you have an optional unit structure, definitely get a claim turned in now. It could be a challenge to get things harvested,” says Miller. “If you have enterprise units, talk to your agent and work through the numbers.” Farmers still need to harvest wheat at this point. If they do not, Miller says an appraisal will be done. Miller reminds growers to not destroy or work wheat ground until an adjuster says it’s ok. “Whatever you do, make sure you talk to an adjuster. If you haven’t done that and given them your samples and you go ahead and destroy the crop without their prior consent, it will come back and hurt you in the end.” Listen to the story.
