Lawmakers are still waiting to see a compromise on paper regarding biofuels and the Renewable Fuel Standard. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley said Renewable Identification Numbers (RIN) caps would do the same damage as small refinery waivers. “There’s a feeling the White House understands, but then, there’s a talk of RIN rebates. What does that amount to? I don’t know. It could have the same impact,” said Grassley. “This whole things started because small refineries needed help. They got their help.” Grassley said the renewable fuels debate is hurting the president more in Iowa than the China trade war. Renewable fuel supporters want the administration to keep its promise of 15 billion gallon in Renewable Volume Obligations. “Let’s call this thing to an end. We should have had this paper from the Environmental Protection Agency yesterday.” Grassley is uncertain what’s holding up the announcement from the Trump administration.
