While the majority of South Dakota farmers can’t grow hemp yet, the crop is the focus of a panel discussion at Dakotafest. The panelists discussed a summer study and how hemp progression is going in Minnesota. IDeaAg Group Sales Director John Hendel says it’s a very interesting discussion. “North Dakota and Minnesota are embracing hemp and growing it. South Dakota is just a no. The farm bill has another approach to it,” says Hendel. “Maybe it’s one of those crops that grows well in wet conditions and it could have made a difference for a lot of producers this year.”
