Crop progress and the weather will continue to be the focus for the markets moving forward. World Weather Incorporated Senior Agricultural Meteorologist Drew Lerner says in the last week, Illinois received some much-needed rains. “Not everyone was treated equally, but it was one of the better rain distributions we’ve seen in a while,” he says. “It will take more than that to restore soil moisture to normal. The cooler conditions are helpful to keeping stress at a minimum, but there is need for additional moisture.” Lerner says there wasn’t much rain relief in Iowa, Indiana and Ohio. “There will still be a need for moisture in those areas.”
