The United States and the European Union have signed an agreement that will increase the amount of U.S. beef going to the EU. This deal will nearly triple the amount of annual duty-free beef exports. “This is a tremendous victory for American farmers, ranchers and European consumers,” said President Donald Trump. The Roosevelt Room in the White House was filled with cowboy hats when Trump made the announcement on Friday. North Dakota Senator John Hoeven was also part of the ceremony. “This is about access to markets,” said Hoeven. “Our ranchers across our country are absolutely the best in the world so when we get access to markets, they can really go to town and out-compete anybody anywhere.” The agreement still needs support from the European Parliament before it can be implemented. That process is expected to begin next month.
