Farmers have from now until December 6 to sign up for the latest round of USDA Market Facilitation Program payments. In North Dakota, county payments rates range from $15 to $60 per acre.”When farmer enroll, they will receive a fix-rate payment for the county their land resides in,” explains North Dakota Farm Service Agency State Executive Director Brad Thykeson. “That rate can be found at farmers.gov.” The first round of payments will be made in late August, with farmers receiving half of the per-acre payment rate. The remaining 50 percent will be split between two additional payments if deemed necessary by the administration. For the sake of efficiency, Thykeson encourages farmers to make an appointment with their local FSA office. “It’s a two-page form, so nothing overly lengthy. The county offices are getting trained on how to fill out that form.” Listen to more.
