The Spiritwood Energy Park Association is terminating a key terms agreement with the North Dakota Soybean Processors. NDSP was in the process of starting a crush facility in Spiritwood, North Dakota. SEPA Chief Operations Officer Connie Ova says the soybean processors didn’t meet agreed upon timelines. “The decision was made to pursue other interests,” says Ova. “There were some issues completing the project. Based on a business decision, we chose to move forward with an alternative.” Ova confirmed the group asked for an extension on the terms agreement and this wasn’t the first time it was requested. On Wednesday, the board also approved a temporary agreement with another future prospect, an agriculture processing facility. “I’m very confident they’ll move forward as promised.” In response, the NDSP says they are disappointed in SEPA’s actions and they are evaluating options under the agreement and applicable law. The future of the project could be on the agenda as the Minnesota Soybean Processors meet in August.
