NDSU Extension is hosting its first ever Hemp Field Day later this month. With an increased interest in hemp production, NDSU Langdon Research Extension Center director Randy Melhoff says it will be a day to educate producers on best management practices of growing hemp for commercial production. The Langdon REC has three years of research to highlight at the event. “There is a lot of interest. In our region, we need another crop for a good rotation. To have another commercial crop that could make money for growers and spread the rotation around would be a good thing.” Melhoff says the real challenge for hemp is market development. There’s no registration for this event and it’s free to attend. The event will be July 23 from 9 a.m. to noon in Langdon.
