Northwest North Dakota fields are still dry. Velva farmer Mark Knorr says fields received just one inch of rain since they started planting. “The showers that came through this past week brought about one-tenth of an inch of rain at a time,” he says. “The crops are doing well at this point, but we’re not far away from being moisture stressed. We’re hoping for the best.” There is a chance for rain in the short-term. Knorr wants that to materialize. “It seems like the fields 30 miles away from us can get an inch of rain. In this local area, we’re struggling getting much of anything.”
